Frequently asked Questions

What are the sizes of the wind turbines offered by Aircon?

The Aircon 10 S has a rated output of 10 kW.

What heights are they?

We offer latticed masts in the heights 12, 24, 18, and 30 m.

What is a grid-connected system?

A grid connected system feeds power into your main distribution. Only if too much energy is produced, the Aircon 10 exports the power into the grid. It is a balanced and synchronous system that will not affect your erveryday life.

In the case of a mains power failure an immediate stop of operation will occur for safety. Of course it is possible to feed in the electrictity solely into the grid, but this option is not economic in most cases, because the electricity tariff is much higher than the payment for infeed. The more you can use the power produced by the wind turbine for yourself it is more economic to conduct a wind turbine.

What is a battery charging system?

A battery charging system is a continous power source for your house. If you have a site without grid connection, you can use a diesel generator to cover periods with less wind (the batteries can give power for about 2-3 days after their dimensioning). When there is too much energy, this is used for heating or hot water generation. Also the output of the Aircon 10 can be regularized accordingly.

What is direct heating system?

A direct heating system feeds power directly into a series of small heaters (either for heating or hot water generation) and is used in conjunction with your existing heating system.

What are the turbines made of?

All components of the Aircon wind turbine are made of galvanized steel, stainless steel or glass fibre reinforced plastic. The masts consist of galvanized steel. The blades are made of a composition of carbon fibre, glass fibre and epoxy resin. All Aircon wind turbines underlie maximum quality standards and are produced in Germany. A quick obtaining of spare parts is possible without problems because we only assemble industry components.

How long is the payback period?

The payback period depends on several factors:

  • Wind resources at the site
  • Contingent of own energy consumption
  • Electricity tariff
  • Payment for electricity induction

How long is the runtime of the turbine?

The Aircon 10 has a design life of more than 20 years.

How does wind power compare to photovoltaic power plants?

Many owners of a photovoltaic plant a have small wind turbine at the same time. This makes sense because the photovoltaic plant only inducts the produced electricity into the grid. A small wind turbine is urgently used for own energy consumption. Even if the side is not optimal the energy output of a wind turbine is much higher and through that there are shorter payback periods also without subsidy.

Can the turbines cope with very high or very low temperatures?

Our turbines have an operational temperature between –40°C and +40°C.

Can the turbines be mounted in coastal locations?

Aircon wind turbines are made of galvanized steel, stainless steel and GRP-components. Therefore there is no problem for a mounting in areas with salty air.

How far away from my house can the turbine be assembled?

The turbine can be mounted directly at the house or up to 500 m away. The further away the turbine is, the bigger the cables must be.

Can the turbines be assembled on a roof?

In individual cases a roof assembly is possible (bunkers, high-rise buildings with accordingly dimensioned flat roof). In other respects we always disadvise from roof mounting. Most roof structures would not be able to carry the active loads. Furthermore vibration can be transferred on the building. A floor mounting with concrete foundation is more competitive in every case.

Is my site suitable for a wind turbine?

Our distributors and ourselves offer a service for site assesments. For the assesment we pay attention if there are high obstacles near, such as high trees, buildings or hills. Those can block the wind flow and the available wind speed in a significant way.

What output can I expect from the wind turbine?

The output varies from site to site. We can give estimations, which are only for indicative purposes.

Are there reference sites where I can have a look at a turbine?

There are turbines in Europe and overseas in operation. Please contact us and we will give you information about reference sites to your closest.

What is the maintenance frequency?

The turbines need a yearly maintenance, which will be carried out either by Aircon, by one of our distributors or someone who has been trained for this.

What is involved in the maintenance?

The generator- and nacelle-bearings will be greased, the Azimut gearwheels will be lubricated, bolted joints from the nacelle, rotor blades and mast are checked and are retighened if applicable.

Can I do my own maintenance?

You can if you have been trained correctly from Aircon or from one of our distributors for that.

Will the turbine keep producing electricity in a mains power cut?

A grid connected wind turbine has to be disconnected officinal if there is a mains power failure.

Is there a local dealer for me?

Please check our homepage or contact us for information about our distributors and their sales areas.

What happens if there is no wind?

If there is no wind you receive your electricity from the grid as usual.

What happens if there are extremely high wind speeds?

As long as there are extremely high winds, the nacelle will turn 90° out of the wind.

What is the warranty time of an Aircon turbine?

2 years.

Can I get a maintenance plan?

Maintenance plans, operation manuals and a user guide belong to every delivered turbine.

Can I be a distributor?

There are already dealers in Germany and abroad. But there are many areas and countries which are not covered. Please contact us.

Do I need a building permission?

A permission is required in Germany. Elsewhere in Europe it may be different, please contact your local dealer for information.

Are the turbines noisy?

The blades rotate at a relatively low speed because of the gearless operation so the turbines are very quiet.

What other costs will come up to me?

Costs for assembly/setting-up, for a crane, for electricians, for cables from the control cabinet to the induction point, for the foundation and for the building application.

Can I build my own mast?

In Germany are extensive calculations required for the masts. These have been performed from us for our masts.

There are different instructions in other countries. Sometimes a wind turbine is just notifiable. In this case you can build your own mast. But then we can not give a guarantee anymore.

Can I do my own foundation work?

If you are able to, then you can do your own foundation work. If not, please instruct a builder to do it for you. We wil provide you with all specifications necessary.
